Lithos Therapy™ is based on the simultaneous use of thermotherapy (heated) and cryotherapy (chilled) techniques. Heat released from the black Rocks works in a similar way as ultrasound, the chilled white Rocks sooth and heal using the same principles as ice therapy.

Lithos Therapy™ works closely with consulting geologist, Dr Andrew White to ensure each Rock has the ideal mineral composition for therapeutic application of contrasting temperatures. Dr Andrew White checks and authenticates every Lithos Therapy™ Rock instrument.

Dr White says it's essential to use Rocks with the right mineral composition. On advice from Dr White, Lithos Therapy™ has chosen two types of rare marble over igneous basalt for their Rock instruments. "Marble has a greater capacity for absorbing, retaining and releasing heat than basalt Rocks. It releases heat at a more consistent rate and stays warmer for longer," says Dr White. Lithos Therapy™ believes it is imperative that each and every Rock is authenticated for quality. It is vital the Lithos Rock instruments have excellent retention and conductivity properties. Rocks with a smooth texture are also essential as they are applied directly to the skin. Lithos Rock instruments are so smooth the client often can not distinguish them from the therapist's hands.
